Prof. Halbertal will be presenting "The Rape of Tamar: Power, Violence and Disassociation, A reading of 2 Samuel Ch. 13". In Prof. Halbertal’s opinion, the text is one of the deepest reflections on violence and politics within the western tradition. It will be an attempt to read the biblical book of Samuel as a study of politics and political theology. In the narrative of the rape of Tamar, in David's court the author of the text uncovers a continuous structural dimension of political violence, a structure that haunts us to this day.
