George Katrougalos (Greece), Assistant Professor of Public Law at Demokritos University of Thrace, Greece; Research Project: "The perspectives of the European social citizenship."
George Katrougalos has a Ph.D. (1991) and a Master in Public Law from the Sorbonne (Université Paris-I Panthéon Sorbonne) and a Diploma of Law from the Law School of Athens.
Since 2002 he has been an Assistant Professor of Public Law at Demokritos University of Thrace. He specializes in issues of Comparative Constitutional Law, Human Rights and Social Policy and he is, since 1999, a member of the Council of the International Association of Constitutional Law (IACL).
He has worked as an international expert in Albania, Uzbekistan, Armenia, Syria and FYROM and he was a delegate of the Greek Mission to the United Nations for the work of the 3rd Committee of the United Nations General Assembly.
He has published widely in Greece, as well as in Germany, the United Kingdom, the United States and Denmark. Among his monographs are: “Southern European Welfare States” (with G. Lazaridis), Palgrave Macmillan, London/New York 2003, “The Social state in the post-industrial era”, A. Sakkoulas, Athens, 1998 —in Greek—, and “Constitution, Law and Rights in the Welfare State and beyond”, first edition Roskilde University, Roskilde, 1995, second edition, A. Sakkoulas, Athens, 1998.
