The paper attempts to make sense of the response developed by the
Human Rights Committee, which adjudicates private complaints under the
International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, and the Inter-American
Commission and Court of Human Rights, which deals with private applications
arising from the American Convention on Human Rights, to human rights
litigation initiated by companies and/or their shareholders.
