1. Emile Noël Fellowship Application Form
Applicants must complete all sections of the Emile Noël Fellowship Program application form and sign where indicated on the last page. The application must be typed and sent in by email and air mail. We will not accept handwritten applications.
2. Statement of Funding
Applicants must list the sources and amounts of any monies they expect to receive earmarked to fund the time spent as a participant in the Emile Noël Fellowship Program. We require all applicants to provide granting documentation from sponsoring organizations detailing the amount and terms of the monies granted. Applicants who are currently employed, must submit documentation from their employer stating any remit they will receive. If the applicants will be self-funded (i.e. receiving no support from a sponsoring organization or employer), that fact must also be stated.
Prospective Fellows wishing to be considered for one of the three $20,000 stipends for Emile Noël Fellows from academia and/or for a capitation fee waiver should note this in the “Financial Information” section of the application.
3. Letters of Recommendation
Two letters of recommendation should be submitted from academics or legal professionals who can speak authoritatively on the applicant's abilities, specifically as they relate to the applicant's research proposal. These should be confidential letters from the referees, and should not be seen by the applicant. Letters should be placed in a sealed envelope with the recommender's signature across the seal and mailed directly to the following address:
Professor Joseph Weiler
Jean Monnet Center for International and Regional Economic Law & Justice
Attn: Emile Nöel Fellowship Program
NYU School of Law
D'Agostino Hall, Suite 212
110 West Third Street
New York, NY 10012
Alternatively these letters may be sent via email by the recommender to: jeanmonnetdirector@juris.law.nyu.edu.
4. Research Abstract and Proposal
A well-developed research proposal is a critical part of the application. It is expected that all Emile Noël Fellows will be at a stage in their research and writing process where they will be able to complete a piece of publishable scholarship during their time in residence at the Law School. To that end, we require a detailed research proposal that describes the research questions, the methodology to be utilized, the expected results of the work, and the projected contribution to the field of inquiry. The research proposal should be preceded by a one-page abstract. The title of the proposal should indicate fully the nature of the research project.
Please note: The selection of Fellows will take into consideration the credentials of the applicants, the interest of the program in the proposed research project, and possible synergies with the research of other Fellows.
5. Curriculum Vitae
The curriculum vitae is an integral part of the selection process, and must contain complete information on academic institutions, honors, and/or awards, and all professional experience (current and previous, including dates of employment and job descriptions).
6. Publication in English
Include at least one recent publication in English (the applicant may include up to two). Please send the publication/s in digital form.
7. Description of Proposed Work and Career following the Fellowship
The description of proposed work and career following the fellowship should be limited to 400 words.

Mailing Application Materials
Except for the letters of recommendation (See “Letters of Recommendation” above for instructions), all application materials, including the application form, should be sent via email to ENFellows@juris.law.nyu.edu, scanning documents whenever possible. Additionally, the applicant should mail a paper copy of the entire application to our office. In cases where electronic scanning is not feasible, please make sure that the unscanned documents arrive in paper form by the application deadline. Statement(s) of funding may be either gathered by the applicant for submission with his or her application materials, or sent separately from the appropriate party.
Because application materials are time-sensitive and may be traveling great distances, we highly recommend applicants use an international courier service, such as UPS, FedEx, or DHL, in lieu of national postal services. All materials sent for application to the Emile Noël Fellowship Program should be addressed as follows:
Jean Monnet Center for International
and Regional Economic Law & Justice
Attn: Emile Nöel Fellowship Program
NYU School of Law
D'Agostino Hall, Suite 212
110 West Third Street
New York, NY 10012
