James Q. Whitman, Ford Foundation Professor of Comparative and Foreign Law, Yale Law School.
James Whitman is Ford Foundation Professor of Comparative and Foreign Law at
Yale, and a Visiting Professor at NYU. He has also taught at Stanford,
Harvard, and European universities including Paris II, Roma III, and the Ecole
des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales. His research focuses principally on
the comparative law and legal history of the United States and Continental
Europe, especially France and Germany. He writes about a variety of topics in
both private and public law, including particularly the protection of privacy
and criminal punishment.
