Dr. Mario Savino (Italy), Global Crystal Eastman Research Fellow
Mario Savino is Associate Professor at the Tuscia University of Viterbo, where he teaches administrative law. He also teaches European Administrative Law at the University of Rome “La Sapienza”, where he received his Ph.D. in 2004. He has been UE Law Poros Chair Professor at the National Law School of India University (Bangalore) and is coordinator of a research team working on the "Evolution of a polycentric administrative space", within the Connex Network (Connecting Excellence on European Governance, Mannheim).
European and global administrative law are his main fields of interests. He is currently researching on two different topics: the accountability of transgovernmental networks and the impact of terrorism and immigration on the notion of public order. He is author of a monograph on the EU decision making and committee system (I comitati dell’Unione europea, Giuffrè, 2005). Among his recent articles, are the following: The Constitutional Legitimacy of the EU Committees (Cahiers Européens de Sciences Po, 2005) and The Role of Transnational Committees in the European and Global Orders (Global Jurist, 2006). He has also written on international decision making processes, the European Commission, Italian administrative reforms and other topics related to the Italian administrative system.
