Anne Orford (Australia)
Senior Lecturer, University of Melbourne

Dr Anne Orford is a Senior Lecturer in the Law School at the University of Melbourne.

She holds degrees from the University of Queensland (BA, LLB(Hons)), the University of London (LLM) and the University of Adelaide (PhD).

She researches in the areas of human rights, international economic law, postcolonial theory and feminist legal theory. Her publications in those areas include articles in the European Journal of International Law, the Harvard International Law Journal and the Michigan Journal of International Law. She is currently completing work on a book about humanitarian intervention and its aftermath to be published by Cambridge University Press in 2002.

While visiting the Jean Monnet Center she will further her research into the relationship between free trade, human rights and democracy.

Her main hobby at present is raising two young sons, Hamish and Felix, who she is sure will make the most of the chance to explore New York city in the spring.
