The Jean Monnet Seminar, Spring 2004
Home of the
Brave: American Use of Force since WWII
Professor Joseph Weiler
MISSION STATEMENT
The seminar explores
the various occasions where the United States has used force or gone to war
since the end of World War II from Korea to Iraq. Readings cover both
historical and doctrinal accounts and explore the adequacies, normative and
procedural, on the international rules designed to sanction or restrain the use
of force in international relations.
Based on student
interest the following interventions have been chosen for class discussion from
a list of all significant U.S. military interventions that have taken place
after the end of World War II.
